Discovering natural forms with a large-format camera
Still Life and Close-Up Photography on 4×5 Inch Film – Workshop with Gerd Pilz
Fruit, shells, twigs, flowers: through the lens of a large-format camera, natural forms take on a presence of their own. In this workshop
participants will create still lifes and close-ups of objects they have brought with them, using 4×5-inch sheet film. The workshop will explore how different
Light characteristics alter the surface, structure and plasticity of an object.
Anna Atkins, Charles Jones, Karl Blossfeldt and Edward Weston serve as points of reference – four perspectives on natural forms
in their own distinctive way. The aim is to produce independent creative work using a large-format camera.
In the optional second module on Sunday morning, the exposed films will be developed on site and the results discussed together.
